Let the sunshine kiss the forehead of the sky.
Show me where the rainbow ends
down beneath the carpet of your smile.
You are the energy
you are the only
you are the everything
and you are the stars holding up my canopy.
Peel back the restless feeling
sterilise the neutrality
and show me where the passion used to lie,
beneath the sheets
between my knees
above all else worth longing for.
Watch the swallows swoop around the horizon,
feathers touching upon the crests of sugar waves.
dipping slipping falling
never drowning.
Calling out a thousand names of summer solitude
as they gambol through the clouds.
Those swallows know they fly for fancy,
as do I,
taking chances on a whim
as I scratch upon the back of those heightless heaven sights.
You are my last delight.
The blade that slices through the grey to show me how
I might breathe.
And think.
And feel.
And love.
