Alan's Rush

"I don't need anyone else,
I can do this all myself"
He checks his equipment,
Makes sure it's ready to go.
This is his chance to finally get his victory.
This is a once in a lifetime race.
If anything breaks...
There's only a miserable life left.
Even if he wins,
What's left to do?
Maybe there is an upside to this,
Alan doesn't have too much to lose.
His life has just started,
and this would be his legacy.

He makes note of his seat belt,
"I never thought this rope was so damn tight."
His last thought before soaring to victory.

Author notes

Car race --> suicide
Equipment --> rafter, rope, etc.
Seat Belt --> noose

    Like it! Great job getting inside thier heads. Awesome job on making it seem as if it's a car race yet at the same time it's a suicide! Nice symbolism! I think this poem is just fine the way it is.
