Is this all of love’s hidden ways
To teach us to know the beauty found in pain?
On those cold, rainy nights, when the world seems so far away
Is it love that keeps me awake?
To drown in the falling raindrops
As they patter against the window
Dancers, leaving patterns as they glide their way slow
To the edge, and fall that hundred thousand feet
into love
Like I did, that once, not so long ago
That cool, clear night, where stars held the sky
Wide open
Waiting for our dance to begin on their sable ballroom floor
If only we had known
If only we had kept our eyes open to see
But dreams held me safe
Until the alarm went off – somewhere around six thirty five
And left me wide awake, waiting for the world to come alive
Holding out for that glimpse, that swift caught glance
For a chance at another night
Come rain or snow or shooting stars
If only those eyes would meet mine and let me make everything right
But instead, we’re so far away
In hopes of finding life
Author notes
If I could pull your pain into me, I would, if only it would mean that you wouldn't have to fight this any more...
