If there was a God, He would let me give you white roses.
He, should He exist, would shower us in rain,
Pellets of water slapping on our skin.
I think that He, in his wisdom, could endow us with something intangible--
That if we believed, we would know.
In faith, we placed everything,
Praying that I could give you white roses.
Nothing withers on the vine,
No letters leave with seal unbroken,
Nothing so sincere.
Instead I bought, I cherished white roses
And kept them alone in my room.
If there was a God, he would let me speak
And cure this cancer, cure this doubt
Over you.
It’s so sad to hear silence on your lips
And to see your eyes so coolly blank;
The sun was setting
Though I couldn’t hand you white roses.
