The roads many
Each on its own,
An arduous journey
Lifetimes spent
In weighing them out
Amid petty squabbles,
Reason loses to doubt
The way to wisdom,
Littered with foolishness
Impartial innocence cedes
To partial blindness
Trust dies with youth
Realisation dawns late -
There was no path to follow,
But one to be made
Author notes
Since this piece seems a little abstruse I shall clarify what is means to me. I think religious tolerance is the essence of harmony. Freedom to choose one's religion also implies respect of others' choices.
Coming from a multi-religious country, I know the havoc that communalism can create. Thousands of lives have been lost needlessly, and it brings a tear to my eye when I realise how easily we could have avoided it all.

I really like this poem. Though, I can't seem to put my finger on what I like about it... Anyway, over all it's great. So, thanx for entering and good luck

As DwellingInDarkness said, it was kinda hard to find the meaning, then I read the author's comments.
This was nicely done, but it's hard to relate to this because of my lack of religion.
But thank you for the entry. It was nicely done.

With this poem, I didnt fully understand the meaning until I read the authors comments, it was aliitle confusing but not. I feel it was very subliminal.
"The way to wisdom,
Littered with foolishness"
Them two lines seem very well thought out, either way you look at it. In which it appears we look at this topic differently.
However my beliefs are different, you have a unique style.
Good luck and thanks for entering.
