~Imagine for Just a Moment~

Imagine for just a moment...
that our religious choices weren’t attacked
the difference in how we worship our beliefs
Christian - Jew - Muslim - Buddhist

Imagine...we could join hands as brothers and sisters
in praise of our individual faith

Imagine for just a moment...
that there’s no need
for death and war
for land and oil
for money and greed
for politics and power

Imagine for just a moment...
that our skin was CLEAR

no colors - black or white, red or yellow
and those who look AT us see THROUGH us
to the beauty that lies beneath

Imagine...they see

the depth of our soul
the compassion of our heart
the intellect of our mind
the breadth of our understanding

Imagine...for just a moment...
that children didn’t starve
that disease wasn’t rampant

that sexual preference wasn’t judged
that innocence wasn’t stolen
that hatred didn’t kill

Imagine...for just a moment...
that our thoughts could cure the pain
and our words were not in vain

From the lips of John Lennon to the ears of everyone,
“I hope someday...the world will live as one...”

...in peace...

Author notes

Dedicated to the memory John Lennon and the way his mind felt the things his heart sang.

Imagine...

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

John Lennon

Option 3: Peace
Some people experience chaos and tend to be emotional. Write about what it will feel like to leave that world of chaos. The freeing of your inner pain. How you long to be rid of all the emotional stresses that haunt your dreams.

    Hood wink

I'd love to imagine this world and this situation, but unfortunately we are not lucky enough to experience such a thing in life. Its a shame, as most world fights (if not all) are related to religious views and religion in general. It makes me sad really, as it is the one thing that stands in our way. Beautifully written.

    How utterly beautiful

Too often we are so caught up on our own self indulgence and hurts and harms that we cannot find the heart to simply move in a peaceful manner when harm is caused or feelings are hurt.

Maybe someday. . .would truly be a dream come true. Perhaps we should all begin - today.

This truly is a beautiful work of art.

A pleasure to have read and enjoyed. ~Pamela

    Beautiful...

If only, hey? In an ideal world, destruction, moral decay and stress would be something we could only imagine!

Keep up the crusade he started, dear poet! The power of the pen is mighty.

This is a lovely piece of writing, and pays wonderful tribute to the late, great John Lennon.

Really liked this one. I don't know if that day will come, especially with the world the way it's going. Who knows, maybe our hope for tomorrow can change tomorrow.

I love the slow flow of this. What a thing to imagine! Sounds like heaven to me. I don't really not like any of it, except the use of bold, italics, caps, etc. It doesn't detract from the poem, it just makes me cringe for half a second...My problem, not yours of course.
I really appreciate all your nice comments on my poems, by the way. (:

Well... I can't say as i really agree with the sentiments in this poem... (I mean, yeah, it would be nice if it could be that way, don't get me wrong) But we're living in a flawed world and mortal and flawed beings, and so complete and everlasting peace cannot be obtained, for no matter how many people hold this opinion, there will always be others who will not, and be more than willing to take advantage of those who do... Still, in concerns to the poem it was well written, and your thoughts on the topic were well expressed, nice job! (and don't let me discourage you, i'm just a cynic at heart!)

Great write here based on Lennon's song and his life - easy to read and understand what you are writing about. Think all us baby boomers loved the Beatles and the 60-70s. Liked the flow and the how you have modernized the thoughts in this poem.
