Damaged Goods

I have been called 'Damaged Goods'

I must confess that it's the truth

but aren't we all in ways by life

by parents, spouse, or those around?

If truth be told we are not perfect

we all have vices- good and bad

the qualities that make us 'us'

are born from grief, from joy,

 from circumstances.

Important though is that we learn

from things that happened yesterday

and that we live the best we can

and treat others with repect and love.

Yes, by life we have all been hurt

and all are damaged... but contain good

and if we would decide to find

the good in those around

then maybe life would be

worth living.

Please tell me what you think

    Meaningful!

    Melissa, as you implied in your write, none of us are perfect, and therefore all of us are "damaged goods". While we may strive for perfection [kudos to you if you do!], we can never attain it, for we are nothing but human...as the old joke goes, I once thought I was perfect, only to find out later I wasn't, lol. Thinking I was perfect was the first mistake, of course.

    But I will put your "damaged goods" next to anyone else's, and I bet you will win, although there is no victory in things of this sort. Nor, should there be...

    Anyway, from one damaged person to another, I truly understood and enjoyed this write of yours, and you know what!! I LIKE YOU!!

    Much love to you,
    Brazos

    It's amazing how being 'damaged goods' can make people treat you differently, when in your heart of hearts you know you are the same person despite all that happens.... I know this feeling all too well at the moment and it is not a nice feeling, and makes me unhappy to know that you are hurt.... it is a wonderful expression here hun, and so well written

    I like your title very much

    I can relate to this for sure. We all bear the scars of dysfunction , disease and sin. It is unavoidable, I think. my favorite part is:"Important though is that we learn from things that happened yesterday and that we live the best we can and treat others with repect (respect} and love.

    life's lessons are to be embraced and learned from.. too often we feel like we're "damaged goods", when in fact, we are just learning more of life's lessons. You are so right in that none of us are perfect, and our lives would be so much richer if we all had more tolerance, compassion and empathy towards others. Very well written.

    Excellent

    You are right, we are all damaged goods in one way or another. But that is where grace abounds. Jesus died that we might receive His perfection, grace and righteousness.Well done.

    We ARE all damaged...

    But we're also heal-able, by a Great Physician Who loves us very much!

    Ironically, I've been recently watching more counseling CDs, and the guy was talking about this exact thing!

    Here's to healing...

    Damaged goods are heaven's opportunity for God's best. I truly believe this. Yes, we have all been damaged in one way or another but God is in the business of healing, reviving, and restoring. Thank you for your words of wisdom and truth. Luv & hugs, ♥ Belle

    SO TRUE AND BEAUTIFULLY SAID!

    We all have our ghost and we go through life reliving the past even with our changes. If only others can see beyond the past and see what is now, what is here to appreciate and love now.

    ouch.. I think you have said it all within these lines "Important though is that we learn
    from things that happened yesterday
    and that we live the best we can
    and treat others with repect and love.
    Damaged goods is such a chicken way for most instead of getting to know what is truly the soul of a person,
    because of course that means work. Would not want that kind of person in my life anyways..
    We all have our faults, I like the message in the end of this can you imagine how just one show of positve
    actions or words could and would turn someone's life around
    Some deep pondering in this one hope many think about it,
    Warm hugz across the miles

    HOw true this is my dearest sister! YOu make excellent points. We are all damaged goods to some extent and I am certainly proof of that! But there are the good qualities that make us unique individuals as well! I am thankful for that as well!
    Much Love and many blessings,
    Frogz~

    For Your Hinted Potential:

    May we all know the Lord so kind
    In Him leaving damages behind;
    To our benefit: miraculous life story,
    While for Him, would be His glory;

    I for one, believe in you,
    For the God behind is very true;
    And has been to you, well known,
    Seeing His grace, in you, sown;

    One day soon, the seed will sprout
    In you, and I will loudly shout;
    For the Sower, praising Him;
    Glory overflowing your brim.

    Even Paul, at the end of his life, declared he was the chief of sinners. A result of knowing the Lord so intimately. I feel I could top that at times.

    Yet, he also spoke of the glory to be revealed in such damaged goods. May you one day find this to be true.

    My money's on you, sis!

    Well said dear one. All of us have been damaged in one way or another, it's how we deal with it, how we're healed and learn from it. There is truth and wisdom in these words. Thoughtful and thought provoking. A fine free verse. Very good flow and tone. Lovely depth of feeling. Good alliteration. A well crafted piece.
