Beyond Concrete Doors

My heart cries Jesus at every turn
It longs to be touched by the king
And mourns each moment spent apart
If ever broken by distance within
So always will i come to you
And ask that you humble my heart
Deep within please humble me
To see more of you each day
Encase me in love you long to share
And move me to enact its truth

No more talking to empty chairs
We're going out without the roof
Without a house to keep us safe
Or hide us from the lost
We'll walk beyond our concrete doors
And welcome strangers at their sides
Welcome them on their own turf
Welcome them and all they are
Broken people in Gods own likeness
Though marred we glimpse His brightness

As we walk we'll let them know
All are welcome in Your presence
Welcome to give up false pretenses
And live in hope and truth
To live in peace and all You bring
In new life of Your heart
And so we pray that You might come
And guide us from our seats
To wander always through the pain
To touch reality again

We leave our cardboard facades
We burn our lofty mirage
Its not for us to close the doors
Or isolate healed senses
But to run head first into the strife
Almost choking on the pain
Almost dieing from the suffering
Just clinging to our King
Who promises we will never drown
When we run into him.

Author notes

I don't suppose this'll make sense to anyone - at least, it certainly won't in full. It doesn't rythme and its barely a poem, but I just thought I'd write something down and this is what came out. I don't feel I need to clarify it further because I kinda wrote it to God

Wow, it doesn't need to rhyme to touch somebody, I think this is an incredible expression of faith, and would encourage anyone who reads it. Lovely job.
