Carnivale

We laugh at the extraordinary
because it's quite unordinary
but truly it's a symbol
of what we really are

The circus is society
just painted with absurdity
but aren't we absurd?
the circus just takes it too far

clowns walk this earth each day
all colored different shades of gray
like people walking down the streets
concealed in their facade

We all are trained to look the same
but secretly the truth remains
behind clown makeup on our face
we lie perfectly flawed

We fear the extraordinary
because it is unordinary
but truly it's a symbol
of what we really are

A kill hides inside our hearts
preying on sadistic thoughts
Ted Bundy is in all of us
He just took it too far

No one is completely sane
Everyone is filled with pain
A serial killer is no change
A human is a beast

We're animals down at the core
We justify it with our wars
killing the weak to rob the poor
We're monsters in the least

We hate the extraordinary
because it is unordinary
but truly it's a symbol
of what we really are

We shoot civilians in Iraq
We hand out rights to take them back
We mask ourselves to look the same
Don't we take things too far?

Please tell me what you think

I think this society takes things too far all the time. We are all insane- completely fucking crazy but some of us take it to the extreme.

Like serial killers. Every single person has thought about killing someone. Most just don't have the means or guts to do it. On the other hand, some people tend to act on their thoughts.

I like the comparison of our society to a circus. Its very true.

And the war.. ggrr. God forbid a boy shoots people at college...but its fucking ok if our soldiers kill innocent people in Iraq. gah!
