I sat down one Saturday morning
With nothing planned for the day
Except to forget about you
Things you used to do and say
The smile that you gave back to me
When I was feeling at a low
How you put my heart at ease
When we danced soft and slow
The letters that you'd written
Each one beneath my bed...
Those three words you whispered
Still echoing in my head.
Snuggling on the sofa
To watch a movie late at night
A long kiss before sleep
Made my everything all right.
Phone calls from you at work
On your lunch break at noon
Just to tell me you loved me
And wished you could be home soon.
Then I flashed to that day
With those lights coming so fast.
Barely remembered a thing
Only knowing that we crashed.
An empty bed beside me
They said you didn't pull through
I just wanted release
I forgot to forget about you.
Now the tears are coming
Why did I sit down to try?
It makes no sense to forget
The only love of my life.
I just can't believe you're gone.
I'm so tired of being alone.
It hurts remembering everything
And knowing I'm on my own.
