Poem - Their pants were dyed in indigo

I met these Russian customers
Appeared they were astronomers
One claimed he saw a miracle
The others were satirical

I think it was on a Wednesday
The sky was clouded, very gray
Their pants were dyed in indigo
These Russians put up quite a show

One had a digital camera
And said 'You're sexy, oh la la
Remark was lacking subtlety
So I refused a shot of me

They said astronomy was the future
Exploring stars a great adventure
They were seeking a big sponsor
And were heading towards Windsor

These Russians full of enthusiasm
Waved away words of sarcasm
I was invited to a bowl of borscht
When they left I got nearly squashed

Author notes

Quite a challenge this contest, as English is not my native language. I managed to use ten words of the word bank: customers, miracle, Wednesday, indigo, camera, subtlety, future, sponsor, enthusiasm, borscht.

I am terribly sorry for the generic comment. I have no good excuse, but it is a bit of a switch going from first to third shift. Please know that I did judge fairly and the winners of the contest will be who pixxie and I thought should win and not just on a roll of the dice.

Thank you kindly for entering my contest.

If English even was your first language, that was a very good attempt at a difficult poem. Considering the language challenges as well...I would say TOP EFFORT! Really well done :-)

Wow. English isn't your native language? You put together quite a poem here. These words are a challenge for anyone, and I think you did a good job of creating a story that makes sense and isn't awkward to read. Thanks for entering.

Please do not respond to this comment until after the contest should you choose to do so. I am co-judging and would like your entry to remain anonymous. Thank!
