I wonder what he’s thinking
As he holds her hips so lightly
As she caresses his body into hers
So very tightly
I can’t help but notice
The way his eyes won’t meet hers
As if there might be somebody else
That he truly prefers
I look at a mirror nearby
And she gives him a big sloppy kiss
But he pulls away too quickly
As if he doesn’t want this
I switch to focus my attention
On keeping my eyeballs dry
But I let one tear slip
As I try hard not to cry
I rest my head on his shoulder
As I whisper quietly into his ear
“I’m so sorry that I did this to you”
Suddenly it became so clear…
I looked down at the floor
Where one last teardrop dripped astray
And I took one last glance at his sad face
As I slowly walked away

SO SAD!
The emotions of school kids love and hurt, this is a wonderful deep and emotional write of those school dances.
