larger than life’s
petty consequences
hold me back.
You traverse
the barren places
of your lonely nights
to reach me.
My high walls contain
the hidden doors
you seek to love me.
I hide among
the maps;
I sent you
the illusions you follow.
To make real
the doorways to my soul
you fight the winds
I fear.
And I await you.

Relate
Being single, I relate to this as a longing to find love or love to find me. It also seems to speak of barriers put in place that ironically help prevent that from happening.

Oh I Did Love This....
This graphic stirs all kinds of emotions and thought processes.
I liked where you took this one. So deep and introspective and ... telling in a tender way. It is almost as if she were to reach the door, it would be opened for her...
Excellent penning my friend. Very nice indeed. ~Pamela

Late evening finally
comes: I unlatch the door
and quietly
await the one
who greets me in my dreams
~ Otomo No Yakamochi (718-785)
Your poem is a profoundly moving and deeply affecting piece. I know what it feels like to wait. I await you - gives me some idea of the conflicting emotions that must go through the mind of the one who waits. It is powerful writing, and emotional. The effect of your words lingers, and reminds us that poetry speaks to something within us all. And that is something
that this work definitely achieves.I am very much liking your poetry.
