Bottled Love

I walked down the street
To the local Walmart
Earned a hello from a friendly old man
For walking through the door with a cart

On a shelf in the back
Where the milk hid
A shelf full of bottles, pink
With plastic white lids

I picked up the bottle
Bubbling like soda pop
Read the label and had to laugh
But then thought, why not pop a top?

It read: Bottled Love
No sugar added
A bitter sweet sip of life
Carbonated, but still no carbs

Caution-
Tested on cute fluffy dogs
Drink at your own risk
Side effects may include…

Heart burn
Nauseating stomach turns
A sigh or two here and there
Abnormal twisting of hair

Psychotic breaks
Excessive baking of cakes
Aggressive stomach butterflies
And every day you’ll cry

After looking around
I took a cautious sip
I began to feel woozy
And felt a need to skip

He stood there at the door
His blue vest knight’s attire
Handing out friendly hellos
My heart felt all afire

I smiled broad as I approached
And touched his wispy white hair
His wrinkles stood out in alarm
And thus began a new affair

Author notes

This was supposed to be silly, but take it as you will. I had fun with it!

I enjoyed the story! I liked the 'carbonated, but no carbs'. Should there be an additional warning as to who you choose to see after the first sip? What if it had been the bulgey-eyed gold fish I took a hankering to the last time I shopped???
