How many times
Does my heart
Have to break
Before you see
Before you care
And how many times
Do I have to pick
Up the pieces
Before you realise
Before you’re there
But I keep on smiling
Even though it hurts
And I keep on supporting you
Though it’s hard not to cry
Because you’re loving her
She’s loving him
And I’m loving you
Though you don’t see it
And I’m left to wonder why
How many times
Do I have to place
The pieces back together
Before you see
Before you’re there
And how many times
Does my heart
Have to break
Before I realise
You don’t care

Wow, there's a real sense of loss here, and an inner struggle, wondering what to do now. I like the way the persona slowly realises the truth: "You don't care", put so succintly in the final line. This poem builds up a scenario effectively. I think it's very good. I agree with pen-inhand that this piece is really poignant. Well-written and affects the reader too. Keep up the great writing.

A sad poignant poem, never a guarentee with love. Hard to except when its not you the love is directed at. You've written this piece very well. Your pain is evident. Love will find you, hang in there! Hugs, Kelly

My advice Nell is leave them down
Your love is given to a clown
Be aware it is time for yous
To put on your feet traveling shoes!
In Aussieville know you can find
A person who is much refined. -
It beaks my heart to know that you are hurting so... I wish I could shake them and wake them up.... you are so strong hun, remember that

another Great one, I'm loving these Hun! March is your month to shine... I can relate and felt this one greatly. Keep them coming... glad you are getting this sadness out.

Why is love and pain so synonymous? Unfortunately (or fortunately) we don't often really choose who we fall in love with, it just sort of happens. But then, what would life be without its measure of romance?
