New kid, new love

I once thought I was whole
I didn't need anyone else
I would ignore the outer world
And totally frown upon it
Then one day I got the news
That there was a new kid in the school
The word was passed to everyone
The jocks
The preps
The gothics
The loners
I thought I could care less
About another person that saw through me
But then later that day you walked into my Physics class
With that crooked smiled
And sparkling green eyes
That looked directly at me
You calmly walked down the aisle
To sit next to me
You were the first to talk to me in awhile
You asked my name
And my favorite band
And everything about me
At first I was hesitant
Afraid you were going to use me or  at least ignore me
Then slow realized that you were listening
With a face I thought hinted interest
Later while I was at lunch
With my nose inside a book
A heard a thunk next to me
And saw it was you
Again you gave me that beautiful smile
That I couldn't resist
I gave a weak smile in return

It was then I realized that you cared

And that I cared too

And without you I would only be a half

    This is great

This is a great tribute to someone who means a lot to you. Don't lose this great relationaship. I always hated being the new kid in school too and My family moved a lot so it happened a lot more than I like to remember. I am glad that you found a friend and I apllaud your love for this person. Thanks for sharing and good luck in the contest.

    wow

This is by far one of the best poems in this contest. This is exactly how this contest got started. The girl though in my story, wanted nothing more than a friend. Excellent work here and thankyou for opening up.
