True Beauty (for StarrInTheSky)

A young girl sits upon her bed
and writes of bitter sorrows
Feeling misshapen and unloved
she dreads all her tomorrows

The mournful words wept on her page
Show the splendor locked inside
Too young to understand the truth
true beauty sometimes hides

I’d like to tell her that someday
she’ll look and see a swan
but the mirror’s not the only thing
that beauty’s based upon

It’s the spirit and the soul that count
when love searches for a home
It’s those who love what can’t be seen
whose hearts will never roam

For as life goes on great looks will fade
And the mirror’s only telling lies
face and form mean nothing
True beauty never dies.

    .

I know this is probably almost the whole thing, but I liked it.

I love this stanza! WOW this piece is great! It reminds me of the days when I was a young girl and heartbroken sitting on my bed writing all my feelings down in my writing journal. Wonderful!
