My mermaid lover’s salty kiss
pale arms beckon from the darkened abyss
to hold me in blessed forgetfulness
I desire nothing more than this

This world has no further claim on me
I’ll seek my lover on the open sea
soft caresses setting me free
entwined in her arms eternally

I’ll leave this land of stinging darts
where faithless lovers stab the heart
till love and hope are torn apart
and the only wish is to depart

I slip the berth and drop the moor
I sail towards the ocean floor
I find the gate and open the door
to sleep in her garden for evermore
