Her First Easter Hunt

Bending over to get all the purple eggs
She can find
Ignoring the red ones
Cuz she don't like red
Falling over
Tripped over her long yellow dress a few times
But still goes after those purple eggs
She picked up a blue one
And gave it to Mommy
Cuz she knew that Mommy
Really likes blue
Got all the candy
Her little basket could carry
So she's done
But doesn't want Mommy to hold her
Cuz she's a big girl now
And she screams and laughs
Holding her purple egg filled bag
Hopping like the cute little bunny
She saw in the field
Where she hunted eggs
For her very first time

Author notes

this is how i imagine a little girl to be on her first easter egg hunt. it let me use my creativeness and imagination along with memories of my two little sisters when they went on their first easter egg hunts at our church. i finally got an oppurtunity to write something other than suicide, murder, dark stuff, or love. I like this poem.
