Where Adopted Children Go

I do not know the
people who gave me life.

I just Don't know.

Adopted.

I know not where I
come from.

All I remember is her
hum and that my father
was scum.

I know not where I
came from, I know not
where I go, but if you ask
me why I point up to the sky
(reply) Cause that where I'll go when I die.

I waited over half my lfietime...in dreams of what my birthmother would have been like...the story is long and the ssruggle great...and if you read my poetry, you watch me forgive her...
I was foudn by my birthfamily last September.....I had given up, truly, decades ago...
this has been my greatest gift...and in return, I gave abosolute absolution to the woman who could not keep her twelve children.... yes, twelve of us..and we have one yet to find..then we are home in the family we get to develop, after all these years...

My mother would have been called such...as you think of your fahter...but...that eighty-nine year old woman, lying in her nursing home bed..is the sweetestm fiesty soul...that I may ever be. It is incredible that I am the one who most looks like her.... and she remembers me, after months between visits...and what that does to heal my soul, is incredible...

This is really sad but you've put your feelings across so well. The title really grabbed my attention too. All the best, and good luck in the contest.

you sound like you don't know where to be, but you defenately know where you're going. maybe what you're looking for will meet you there.

this piece is written like i would expect a poem to be written by someone so full of unanswered questions, especially when it comes to the question of origins. i like how you're so sure of future. everybody needs some hope to hold on to. God bless

Interesting write- my sister was adopted....it seems to be a universal need to know where you come from.

    Well penned.

Nice emotions. Adopted children have many stories to tell on why they were adopted and how they came to be. Like you, many have none. Beautifully done.

Adopted children are luckier than some, they were wanted very much. I bet you are much loved and wanted where you are. This is a very good write, thank you for sharing.

This is very sad. I can relate in a totally different way to the context of this poem
