perusing television
as some made- for- tv preacher
read from revelation.
i held fear again;
the gripping panic leading to reprieve
that sunk like bowling balls
in stomachs made for
lighter weight.
not on knee or sullen head,
i sat with eyes clasped on dreams.
reciting prayers and pleas
that spread throughout the universe,
i wasn't rookie with this
talk.
something held this time,
as burdens seemed to shift and slide
under eyes
of something else;
something greater than i was,
two years ago [next week.]
