What do you do
When your very best friend
is letting herself get hurt
over and over and over again
What do you do
when your very best friend
calls you crying, and all you can do
is sit there, helpless
What do you do
when your very best friend
turns and walks away
right back to the source of pain
Do you run after her?
Do you let her go?
Can you let her go,
even though you know she'll get hurt
And what do you do
when your very best friend
won't let you help
when she cant even help herself?
Do you dry her tears?
Or do you let them fall?
Is there really anything that you can do?
Can you heal someone who doesnt want to be healed?
She's more like my sister
my mirrored reflection
Her pain is my pain
Well how much more are you going to hurt her
before both of us crumble?

this was sad for me to read because so many in my life have asked this very thing concerning me. it took a few years before i finally divorced him and now they are worried because via mail we are corresponding. i completely understand where they are coming from because were situations to be reversed, i would ask the same things. thank you for sharing this with me tonight. i feel like someone cares and is sending me their thoughts. viyanna rosemarie

Omigsh! You totally almost made me cry (I mean, poems don't make me cry very often) So, happy? You made me upset with my poem about me and then you're probably going to sooo beat me in this contest. =(
