Coming from the darkness
I stand up straight
enabling my soul to breathe

I have been covered in remorse
far to long
Shoes of regret
taking me down roads
that injured my spirit

Turning the lens until my eyes
are focused on my next journey
Releasing past indiscretions
to honor the new awakenings

Cloaked in the heaviness of fear
Fighting to find a way out slowly
so the light of reality doesn’t blind me,
reinforcing my doubts

Reaching out from the catacombs
Of denial
finding the shroud of love that
will embrace my being

I rise from the ashes of yesterday
Lifting me to hear the whispers
of my beloved

Kissing my wounds with his tears
Calming my stress with his words
I release myself into his wants and desires

Knowing I am safe
Knowing I am loved
He has the answers to my questions

    Who is "He"

Other than that I think it's beautiful. I love the image of a person standing up to let their soul breathe. Not slouching, not lying on the ground. Standing.

Remorse. Regret. Fear. Denial. Things we must cast off.

Each stanza a different aspect of your condition, your journey.

All in all, you've articulated what my soul has been saying all along

this is demonstrative of the help and healing that faith can bring,a poetic accolade to that which lifts the spirit to face another day safe in the knowledge that He is there.
