And She Danced

Missing image
The little girl stood in the yard and danced,
her arms held out to the world around.
She tipped her head back and smiled
as she swirled, twirled and tapped her feet.

There seemed to be some glorious music,
that the angels only played for her to hear.
A light shone from her and lit her face,
as though her soul was shining through.

Some looked at her and would laugh
saying that wasn’t any real dance.
Others recognized this blessing,
that they were allowed to see.

And  day after day, that little girl danced
and twirled in perfect happiness.

Please tell me what you think

    WHEN IRISH EYES ARE CRYIN

oh how my daughter loved to dance. this really touched my heart.you are such an outstanding writter.....[The angels only played for her to hear].... you get me everytime. My sweetheart passed away 14 mn. ago. from a drug overdose. I imagined reading this very poem you wrote, to her when she was small as I often did sitting on the edge of her little bed. And yes she was happy...she was just like her father, wanting to have a good time and a good life. She was 29 and im so glad we laughed and sang and danced together.........im sorry.......you have stirred somthing deep in me.You are a kind, lovely young women who has always been kind to me. The time you took to read my work and say such kind things about my poetry. Its all i have now.Im so bitter now it's probably all i'll ever have. You must not stop writing.I look for your work everytime i go to this site. You have a stiring , hunting style. You always write somthing that means somthing to me. You have a universal way of presenting your work...very articulate and soothing. This drunken Irish poet applaudes you.

GOD BLESS YOU MY POET, MY FRIEND,

    LOWELL POE

this one was just another one of mine that speaks about those that judge people for not doing things the same way they do. it is kind of like the one I did about the painting. to me, dancing, painting, poetry and such are just expressions of ourselves, not to be judged for not being like someone elses. thanks again, huggssss!!!!!

Beautiful write, the innocence of the girls dance is portrayed perfectly by your words.
Those people who laughed must have stopped hearing the music long ago, I feel sorry for them.

thank you for the wonderful comment on this poem. I have a few poems that speak out about the judging by others who think their way is the only way. This little girl just danced, for the joy of it, nothing more. And she did not let their laughter or criticism deter her or take away any of the joy she received from it. a real lesson to us all. thanks again, huggggsssss!!!!!!!

Beautiful poem! Written so good and elegent. Children seem to hear there own music that adults seem to lose. As adults we let the corruption of the world take it out of our soul. If we listen we might get hear it again!

The music she hears is the happiness of her soul allowing her to be free and express the joy she feels in her dance. to the world at large she does not care for her happiness is there for all to see. Very nicely written.
