Riding The Breeze -gold

I have no fear of that place we go;
been there, done that, made the decision
to come back.  But staying ever long
was not part of my deal.
Let me die choking on lobster
that has been lavished with clarified butter

Or, after eating, and not choking,
let me drift to sleep in my soulmate's arms;
after a new greeting, after a renewal
of his skin on mine.
If that is not within some grand design,
than I choose a sudden death; nothing gruesome,
nothing to torture my friends and family with.

Let me die with a poem on a page
and ink on my hand, and sweet words
in my mouth and dear thoughts in my head.
Let it be another loud pop and a scramble
of words that contain, "We loved you."

Bring on my friends and they can dance
around my fire.  No sad sojourn before a casket
or long line of hands to shake nor pretence,
or I shall haunt the works of you.  Speak of Love
when you remember me.  I have been greatly loved,
and I have been greatly loved in return.  Put me in a bunch
of baggies and take me to the woods, to the ocean,
to the mountains and let me go.  Let me ride beautiful breezes
and you can mourn me as long as you can see me.  No more.

Remember, I am thrilled at this leaving.  I have much more
to do, more places to go, more souls to meet.  Oh, and a hand
to guide me through the tunnel like a voice bringing me out
of a seizure:  that angelic soft and comforting tone
that says, "Come back, dear heart, come back."

Wowww....I really liked how you wrote this poem that was awesome. It's one of the best poems i've ever read.
I think this poem came from the depths of the writters soul
I loved the imagery especially this lines:

"Let me die with a poem on a page
and ink on my hand, and sweet words
in my mouth and dear thoughts in my head.
Let it be another loud pop and a scramble
of words that contain, "We loved you."

Oh my sister...Maybe we will live on the same street...and continue the friendship that we have now.
What a joy that would be.
You can meet my past and I yours and share the truths of our lives.

maybe when I catch my breath I'll find better words to express how close to my heart these phrases are.

    Let me ride beautiful breezes
and you can mourn me as long as you can see me. No more.

I buried someone like that and he would angry at my tear right now but he would understand too

Aw..... it is so true that we make such grandeosie selfish acts when someone dies...we forget how awesome the next palce is and wish to hang on to those who would rather be there than here. Yes, of course we cry, but I hope for ourselves and not for those who got to leave. *hugs* pen friend.

    excellence is rare

lady, I think you have already tasted the pleasures of Heaven...and that is why you welcome it so. We all have that little piece of Heaven on Earth, you just have to open your heart and eyes long enough to see it.
    Yes...dance we will

I ost my fear of dying...just have the angst of HOW. I know coming back was more torture than a human being can hardly stand..the going was nothing but beautiful. And , since I live in an idealistic world...let it be so for all of us.
