Black eyes that mesmerize
Spellbound I gaze forever
Locked out of their secrets
By the forbidding shadows
A mysterious magnetism beckons
The enigma I try to explore
Probe the dark sheltered depths,
Hidden treasures to unravel
Expecting hope, sorrow,
Guilt or just apathy
The delving yields naught
The spirit remains untouched
I surrender to the oblivion
Of the all-consuming nothingness
