A Morning Stroll

As I leave for my
morning walk,
I admire
the sprinkling drops
of dew
perched on
crisp,
freshly cut blades
of emerald grass-
a sparkling delight.

The robins are present.
Red breasts adorn them.
Their song drifts with
the morning breeze,
as they search
the rich soil
for worms.

Brilliant blossoms grace
flower beds in
vibrant shades
of purple, yellow,
pink and red.

Grand oaks line the
sidewalks...
like loyal centuries
standing guard over
precious jewels.

The azure sky
stretches
as far as can
be seen,
with billowy
white clouds
drifting along
in silence.

The graceful arch
of a colorful
rainbow forms
a prism
of promise.

Children run and play
in the park-
their laughter lifts
my soul
as I stroll by.

I greet neighbors
out walking their dogs-
large and small-
and exchange
words of news.

As the path ahead
slightly curves,
I come to the edge
of the calm,
clear water
of the lake.

Mallards glide
upon the surface,
awaiting bread crumbs
from my goody bag.
The flapping of wings
spray water
as they swarm to
consume my offering.

With fresh air
in my lungs,
and a song
in my heart,
I slowly retrace
my path back home.

    Absolutely

Awe Inspiring. These words simply cannot do justice to the images that they create in the reader's mind. Some painters work with oil, you work with lines of poetry filled with vibrant words. Well Done Debi. I immensely enjoyed this poem. Thanks for sharing!

    Uniquely Moody

A fine poem that produces a unique mood in the mind and heart of the reader. And it includes even a worm! Yours is a good goody bag, and you are so so very young dreamy green! With such a willowy billowy future to look forward to, wherein, you will no doubt see wonders achieved by the written word, and yours will be among them. Sincerely, Wesley Storer.
