I began my task twenty years ago
Asking questions about nuclear war
A young buck at sixteen
still impressionable
being a teen
interested in my world
there were sights I haven't seen
With nuclear war was "Human Error"
Writing about a "big mushroom cloud
taking all life within its
fiery bosom
Mankind's sorrow, Mankind's fate"
Afterwards, I talked about love
with "Hearts of Passion"
and living as a virgin
"Hearts of Passion a lesson to learn
When the passion goes, hate can burn
The feeling I have at long last
Can ease the pain of years past"
Then came my departure
from pen and pad
I found a career in serving food
Putting away my fad
Never taking it seriously
Bringing work home with me
I suffered writer's block
lyrical apathy, culture shock
Believing the decision was poetic justice
Standing by as my world evolved
with blatant injustice
Leaving the career that focused on food
Back to the lab in a sullen mood
Needing to rant, anxious to vent
The pen ran back to the palm of my hand
Here I now stand, ready and writing
thinking and creating, for it is my duty
To bring the truth as I see
Writing about life is what moves me.
Author notes
The lyrics you read through are from my first poems. I wrote "Human Error" and "Hearts of Passion" in 1987 and 1989, respectively. Yes, I plagarized myself.
Please tell me what you think

I, for one, am grateful and glad that the pen found its way back to your hand. A brilliant narrative of your passion to bring the truth. Love it.

Round Trip from Pad to Kitchen and then Back
What can one say but it is the human condition to repeat history as you can see it even applies to you and a turbulant career path that you made.
