A memorable day in summer spent.
A lad of sixteen jaded by discontent.
Feelings of isolation and void,
pierced him with sorrows sword.
Contemplations of eternity
bare a heavy load of grief.
Was it posible beyond
what he could concieve.
By faith in Christ to believe.
Christianity was an anomaly.
To wit his death and sufferings.
To endure the cross and give one's life.
A love so profound in sacrifice.
It seemed a humongous thought.
So great a love to impart.
To a sinful world of callousness.
Immersed in greed and selfishness.
Yet their I sat so inclined,
by the power of the divine.
To a realm of humility.
Succumbing to the acknowledgement
of all my inadequacies.
Surrounded by an unfathomable silence,
that captured my attention.
Releasing my doubts and inhibitions.
The spirit stirred deep in me.
To which his word spoke,
"come and see!"
No power on earth could deny,
his gentle embrace.
His sweet love and affection
drew tears of grace.
No greater love could ever fill
this yearning heart
then his perfect will.
To know him for yourself
is the greatest gift
in this life.
Made posible only by
his blood sacrifice.
