I know you can’t hear me cry.
I know that you don’t know when I do.
You can’t see the silent words that my mouth is forming,
Or the tears that run down my face at three AM.
You never knew it was because of the nightmares.
I know you can’t hear me cry.
I almost like it better when you can’t see me like this.
What could you even say if you saw my sleepless eyes
Staring intently into yours,
With tears spread around them like ashes from a dead fire.
I know you can’t hear me cry.
Silence cuts through the curtain of blackness
Like the blade against my skin.
You don’t see me here alone at night.
My bloodshot eyes are breaking through my sanity
Proving there is nothing to live for anyway.
I know you can’t hear me cry.
The scars dot my vision,
Lines, circles, blood.
Whether my eyes are open or closed,
I still see the fear rising from inside of me.
I know you can’t hear me cry.
The clouds outside rip me to pieces,
Bringing faint light into my room,
Casting shadows of memories on the walls.
I remember those early mornings staring out the window,
Thinking of you and wishing you were with me.
I know you can’t hear me cry.
Soundless statements curse my lips,
Not like you should care.
They were about you,
But you never knew,
You never heard.
I know you can’t hear me cry.
And you can’t feel those scars that
Started my nightmares.
You don’t see the sickness rising with the sun.
And you never knew that I cry because...
Those scars stood for your name.
