thoughts of a long winter
erased by the promise of spring
reflections of a season
that revives all living things
deeply inhaling crisp, clean air
I stare contently at fluffy clouds
against skies of azure blue
while dogs jump around excitedly
I can smell the blossoms
that slowly begin to dot the trees
standing tall amidst lawns of green
decorated with colorful tulips
spring memories causes me to sigh
from the recollection of this moment in time
young laughter echoes in the distance
conjuring up thoughts of picnics
my daughter's presence by my side
adds to the gentle array of color
and in my heart I feel a renewing
of life beginning to stir once again

I also really love how well you inked this poem onto your paper. I am not suprised you won silver so congratulations on that but what does maaze me is your quality and choic eof wording. you use wording I rarily have sen and yet your technique is quite unique as well. any ways all that equals out to this poem being a winner. nice work and keep it up

Can't wait for spring to get here - had all I need of cold and snow and sleet and icy rain. This sure makes me want it even more. Very peaceful and restful tone to this one. I thought at first it was gonna rhyme and I got pretty excited but . . .
It does have just a plesant flow and rhythm to it.
