Chocolate candy, rich pies
Buttery breads, delectable meats
Entice my tongue with their lies
Luring me with their deceits
I hunger for belonging and acceptance
I thirst for the tastes of life's pleasures
I sniff for a lasting fragrance
I prepare a feast of glazed treasures
I am left horridly hungry still
Though I indulged in every bite
And ate beyond my fill
Not denying a single delight
From my emaciation I cried
I am starved for something more
My cravings cannot be denied
I disparately need a savior
Words came offering me bread
“I have heard your desperate plea
By this you shall be fed
Let the truth set you free”
His very words filled my soul
I hunger and thirst for what is right
Tasting his goodness is my goal
As I enjoy every new delight.
Author notes
To Feed Gluttony it must be understood and applied the truth that "Man does not live by bread alone, but every word that proceeds from the mouth of God." (Deut 8:3)

True!
This is so true, I was wondering if in this line..
"I am staved for something more"
Should it be "Starved"?

Again very well done. I especially enjoyed the rhyming scheme and flow in this one. Again, thank you for entering, and good luck.
