Death is but an open door that we must all pass through,
Sometimes it can be painful but there’s nothing you can do,
Others have gone before you and your turn will come to go,
Some say it’s a tunnel, through which you rush so fast,
Others hear friendly voices and see a bright light that is cast.
Whatever the way it’s clear to me we wake on the other side,
Gone is pain, gone is earth and old friends meet us at end of ride.
But it isn’t the same for everyone, where you go depends on you,
On your actions and thoughts to others through life, good and bad points accrue.
If you’ve sinned and you’ve cussed, been selfish and bad,
The door you will open will make you so sad,
No bright shining light, no welcoming friends, but to a dark place you arrive.
Created yourself by the bad points you scored, while earthside.
So go through your life and give all you can,
Stretch out to help your fellow man.
An example so clear Jesus gave to us all,
Follow the rules and you will not fall.

The opening line is intriguing and draws the reader right into the poem. A good thought provoking write.....mal
