The Deathly Hallows

Young Harry Potter has grown and matured
and I have become a great fan.
I've met his best friends, Hermione and Ron
and the rest of the Weasley clan.

Marked as a toddler with a lightning bolt
his destiny soon was quite clear.
He'll fight Voldemort till one is destroyed,
a prospect that fills him with fear.

J.K. Rowling has always allowed him
to see how evil can destroy
his family, his friends, even Dumbledore,
and that magic isn't a toy.

I read with awe as he harnessed his powers
becoming a wizard of note.
Meeting new faces in magical lands
devouring each book she wrote.

With each new adventure I learn the past
and Harry's strong will to prevail.
His mother's brave love is the strongest force.
She guides him so he will not fail.

What awaits our hero in his last book
is something I can't wait to see.
I know he must fight an epic battle
for all wizards to remain free.

I want Harry and his friends to survive
and Voldemort destroyed at last,
but I know that some will be sacrificied;
lost from Hogwarts' eccentric cast.

Ginny Weasley is the love of his life,
and so I believe in my heart
that she will die and he'll go on alone
and this star crossed couple will part.

Hagrid, the gentle giant, will succumb
to protect those that he holds dear.
But his spirit will always be present
and his influence will be near.

Voldemort slain, the death eaters disburse
leaving their influence to wane,
but evil cannot be truly conquered.
It will wait to rise up again.

A lonely Harry continues to fight
to keep all the demons at bay,
knowing that victory never comes cheap
and love is the price you must pay.

Author notes

I am sorry that this will be the last book. I would love to see Harry grow up and have his adventures continue.

wow, this was very good! No wonder it got the gold! (I didn't enter the conetst, just found it after it closed) You described your feelings about the series so well! I too am looking forward to seeing the seventh book. I think taht Ginny may die, after all, Voldemort can get into Harry's mind easily, if he finds Harry thinging about Ginny with love... oh man, I can't waite until the book comes out! It's gona be so awsome! It will probably be the #1 BEST SELLING BOOK taht there ever was! (except perhaps the bible) I really liked your poem.
