The Spring Spirits

The Spring Spirits are working again,
waving their magic wands;
they’re kissing the trees and bushes today
to break the winter’s bonds.
They collect the old leaves of autumn
and sew them back together
to a mattress to rest on by in the breeze
of their newly made weather.
Melting the waters of the lakes and seas,
they swim in currents of warmth
to remember the winter that has passed
and the joy they’re bringing forth.
And for a very good time to pass by on still
before the summer takes over,
the Spring Spirits will continue their game
to show us their true wonder.

    Ah spring, one of the most wonderful things that poets write about. A nice change from all the misery that so often plagues this sight. It's poems like this that really crush the steriotype about us poets as depressing Goth-like people who wallow in grief. I think that steriotype is why I want to be an English teacher, so I can show the world that we are so much more than that.

    This poem was great! I love the idea of spring spirits! Thanks for entering this into my conetst, and good luck!

      Spring surely is a magical time and I do understand the stereotypes you spoke of... I'm very often stereotyped as a "heavy metal girl who's always mad and tries to be tough and is miserable, hating life" because of the clothes I wear. I haven't noticed anything of that this far as I'm always smiling... lol
