Rain Fairies

From the beginning of the very known time
he was captured to one small drop
to fall with the rain to the world never lost,
simply waiting for the endless stop.

His saddened heart kept calling in the night
to find a way from the aching pain
of waiting his lifetime for the obvious death
the approaching ground would stain.

Gazing outside to the widely grown field
he could see more of his own,
trapped in the rain of the distant nightmare,
all of them left there alone.

His wings were torn from the struggle of fear
and his eyes blinded from loss,
his body trembling from the setting sun
that he’d never again fly across.

One more tear he cried before the endless fall
had come to a sudden halt.
A tear of blue ice fell beneath him and pierced
the cage’s strong iron hold.

To freedom he flew like many others that day
to find the lost world of ages,
where they still roam in this world of legends,
the fairies of the rain’s pages.

Fairies are interesting characters, even though they're not all that used in the world of writing and poetry. Other fantasy creatures such as elves and drawves and such have seemed to take their place. But I think fairies can paint beautiful stories to this world and I enjoy writing about them greatly.

Thank you for your kind word; they mean a lot to me
