if you could do or be anything,
would you first ask God to free you from sin
then grant you the voice of an angel to sing?
Within all of our hands lie a miracle
a gift with which we are blessed,
It may be writing or singing something lyrical
and as you discover you must give it your best.
Do crafts and sewing come with such ease
could it be your talent is cooking,
with God there are endless possibilities
to find your niche you need to be looking.
Delight in the Lord with all your heart
he'll reveal in time what is true,
that miracle for which he has set apart
in his very own special design for you.
Does running or dancing bring immense joy
along with gymnastics or a sport,
perhaps you've invented a new line of toys
offer all up to God don't sell yourself short.
He'll take whatever we give to him
and embrace it with all of his heart,
in return filling our cups to the rim
and overflowing blesssings he's sure to impart.
Are you a financial wiz great with money
or perhaps a big Hollywood star,
do you spend your time cracking jokes being funny
You've so little to do with who you really are.
So what is the thing you hold in your hand
that burns in your soul like a fire,
would you go coast to coast,by sea or land
to accomplish your heart's deepest desire?
Author notes
Ever wonder what you were created to do? I do all the time. I wrote this as an inspirational piece for anyone who struggles to find their place in this world such as I.I believe unless we are doing that thing which God designed us to be we will never truly be happy inside....

Everyone has something special they can do, a talent that they are well known for and enjoy doing. Often wonder why I was spared a car crash to live while another died. Foound out there were still things He wanted me to do - look after my mother and help with my grandchildren. Liked the rhythm, rhyme and flow in these lines, the sentiments you have expressed so well here.

Excellent
I always wonder why God put me on this Earth and why I was born when i was. Sometimes I feel I should have been born in a different time. I don't like what is going on with the world of today, I wish I could have seen the world of yesterday (1950's) They sound as though they were great times and peaceful times. DJ. -
Into the light
Such upbeat words & strength in your words. the power of life a true gift wonderfully expressed

Well Done!
This is so true and very thought provoking.
Sometimes no matter who we are and how far
we have come in our lives, we are never truly
satisfied. By nature, we all strive to be something
and someone better. Always needing to learn and
discover new things is what life is all about. This
is a wonderful write and a great reminder to keep
looking inside of ourselves to find out what it is
we really desire out of life. Wonderful work here
my friend! Thanks a lot for sharing this here.
Keep up the great work!

Very nice, its good to bring up those questions, we sometimes get so caught up in the main message of God that we forget that even Jesus talked on more issues than just salvation, well done!!! and very well written as too!!! much love, happy easter, now im going home to sleep...lol... Jacen.

Ahhhh the wonderous question of what is "my purpose" in life. I don't think I am here to do anything for recognition, I seem more the "back drop" kind of gal. Doing things here and there for others, encouraging, inspiring, rationalizing, organizing, supporting and nurturing. I would say those are some of my purposes in life, an ear to listen and an instinct to guide. This has certainly served it's purpose well thus far ha! I have a good life, anything more than this would just be Bonus

so true!
this makes me think of 1 corinth. 12:17-20, about the body of the church and everyone being given a different talent to serve God with.
Nicely done! keep it up!

I love it!!!! I love it all, the beginning the middle and the end just pulls it all together. It was wonderful . . . . It IS wonderful!!!

-
Wow, thats a theory and a half!!! this is a really cool poem! its just genuanly cool! it has no 'need' for improvement, and its just brilliant in all respects. i personally have a more 'free' approach to destiny or fate, but i do agree that we all have at least one thing we are made to do... and i think you captured the essance itself of that fact! well done!

-
This was really beautifully written and even though I dont usually like so much rhyming it didnt seem forced in this write. Im not a religious person but I do agree with some things in this poem such as:
So what is the thing you hold in your hand
that burns in your soul like a fire,
would you go coast to coast,by sea or land
to accomplish your heart's deepest desire?
I think I would so exactly what you talked about in this stanza if it were my passion. Riding horses is something that I want to do for the rest of my life and I dont care where Im doing it as long as I am doing it.
Wonderful write.

I wonder all the time. If i was created for a purpose different than what i've chosen to do with my life. Thank you for making me think yet again if there's something more I could be doing to make things different and better for myself.
-
Excellent
This is excellent maybe your writing block is over. I read this and I can't believe just how well it is written but more than that the words expressed are so true. I ask myself this questions often also. Not really sure of what purpose I am suppose to serve. I believe that there is a purpose for everyone. I also believe that there is good in everyone, choices are what make the difference. Thanks for sharing, Melody

This was a very inspiring piece for anyone that's looking for their place in life; Searching for themselves. I like the rhyme and flow too. Nice.
-
Very Nice
You are so right. We all have something to offer in one way or another. God gave us something special. If we don't share it with others, who will ever know? I really enjoyed reading this. Thanks for sharing!

I Loved It
I like the idea behind it and what you where trying to convey in the poem. The rhythmn is really good too. Keep it up!
-
Inspirational...
Well put...
What is your deepest desire within
if you could do or be anything,
would you first ask God to free you from sin
then give you the voice of an angel to sing?
Oftentimes introspection yields perfection,
But not without GOD's direction...
Very nice write!
Salute!!!!!
-
nice toni. really more than nice. since i came to ap. it is the first time i have published my christian work. so what people read here is the first time it has been seen. though i am relatively new here. i have been surprised at the response to them. so i guess i should dust the other ones off. i know what you say rings true. you state all the questions i have asked myself many times.good write.

-
wow
I loved this!!! It really does make you want to find your special talent... My youth group was just talking about this a little while ago.. what a coincidence... great imagery and emotion.. i could feel every line!!!

-
I whole heartedly agree with your authors notes. Sometimes we don't know what we are meant to be or do, but with help, we all will find our way.Great inspirational write.

-
We have all been given some special gift that we can share with others, be if through sports, arts, trades, etc. It sometimes takes us a long time for find out just what it is, but others will let you know what you are good at doing.

Wonderful , spiritual write with great cause and question. I am in awe of its beauty. I am also wondering just how many of us truely do find the answer of what our duties are in this life.
