Forbidden Lore

All-has-read of the mad poet Hazard
in the heart of the highlands of Alhazred
Of scenes that must be seen and read
in the Necronomicon, the book of the dead.

The Mad-Hatter screams:
'Kings Quest for control!'
Clay-walls surround all
around ancient skyscrapers
that reach storeys up high

The roofs elaborate stucco
friezes form a continuous scrawl
a jumbled alphabet of signs and symbols
surround windows intricately carved.

There, not being found,
the hidden meanings,
They're not being found!
The poet and reader both starve.

I was here, disoriented
in a vast pop-up picture book
Lost in a labyrinthe city
A hive for insiders, trapping
outsiders between dimensions.
Reality is shattered,
there is no escape.

The fear lurks
like rats in the walls
Atop a throne of bones
in a world of dark halls.

I'm chased down narrow corridors,
by frightening noises
for one-thousand and one nights
on the unnamed island. Prohibited
Fenced in by weird tales.
Edgar Alan Poe pulled out the nails.

My mouth tastes of wormwood
Once buried beneath the centuried earth
A desecrate tomb, is fatefully robbed
an oblong box exumed, becomes the mysterious
knock on his chamber door, the red death
corpse wearing a jade amulet. Nothing more.

    Well done!

Wow, you pulled from many of Lovecraft's short stories for this one! The sense of confusion and isolation are conveyed well. I love these lines:

    Thank you for entering!
