"The Dogwood"

It stands between two old trees it's beauty

for all the world to see.  Every  year it's

                    beauty shines

But only  for a very short time.  Sitting on

this porch I'm at awe at it's beauty as

if I need to stand at attention, as if this

                    is my duty.

Well yes dear tree I will salute you in all

of your glory.   I will await your return

next year, and as you fade away, I promise

I will not shed a tear.

    BEAUTIFUL

Gardening Great visuals here, I love trees and this was simply a sweet dedication to them. I long for the buds to bloom here in Pa now. We have many trees in our yard and each one brings me a form of happiness each year as they come to life. So glad Spring is finally arriving! A wonderful piece!
    Hugs, Kelly

    very nice

this poem has very strong imagery, and an almost prose-esque structure that reminded me a bit of very early rimbaud or perhaps verlaine.
    nicely done

I have a difficult time writing about nature. I see the vision but lack the creativity to describe. I am in awe of this write. Well done! Beautiful imagery makes this poem serene.

    Beautiful

I love this poem. It is lovely and it's words flow together perfectly.  I really like the subtleness of the rhyme. It is extremely effective and unique. The poem and everything about it is great. However, I only have one suggestion and this is only a suggestion. If the presentation was changed to look more like a poem. The way it is now, it look more like a paragraph from a story, but always remember this is your work and never change anything about your work unless you feel it will make your work better and you will be comfortable with the change. The view from your porch is lovely. How I envy you!!!! Be blessed. This poem is great!!!!!    Smile

That was very inspiring Kathy. You waould'nt be from Woodville, would you? They have a "Dogwood Festible" every year. Thats where my mother is from. She lives in Beaumont now for almost 30 years.

nature goes full circle, coming back as strong and as beautiful as the year before. I love the spring when everything is coming up new and fresh, just waiting to see what this year can bring. The colours of dogwood can be astounding in the winter when all else is brown and dormant. Great write
