watching the fire in the rain.
The flickers gain my interest
as the crackles call to me.
I don't fully understand this feeling,
the tugging on my soul.
It draws me to it,
I'm a moth to a flame.
Walking to the fire, I make it larger,
and I climb out of my emotional cage.
The chains fall from my body,
the shackles loose as the heat hits my skin.
The loss of weight makes me feel rejuvenated
a new man.
Forgetting all the worries that used to hold me back,
I don't think twice of what others might say of my actions.
Instead, I stretch my muscles to warm up,
and I begin to dance with the fire's flickering steps.
"But he who dances with fire, he is lost-
For he who dances with fire cannot leave the dance
And will face the blaze.
So dance."
Author notes
This poem went through a few edits. I was inspired by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes' Kiesha'ra series.
I actually have to say that the song in the poem, is taken from her, and I put little edits here or there on it. So for the song, all credit goes To Amelia. Other than that, I wrote this poem myself.
This is Part two of the Risks Of Life poems of mine. Part one is at this link:
