Distant lullabies fall on dead ears
The stars are dulled by smoke
And blurred by tears
The sun only burns
And the chilling winds cut right to the bone
Tremors will shake your soul
The truth will blind you
And leave you groping for a lie
Just so you can pretend
That existance is worth the pain
Death has already struck the lucky ones
We are the survivors
Left to live without them
They say in time
We'll learn to love again
But for now
there is no comfort
But in denial
No hope
But in useless fantasy
Living, breathing, dying
Hoping, praying, crying
What good is love
If it can't raise the dead?

Wow, this is smiply amazing. I do love your happy poetry, but your darker poetry is just... mindblowing.
Those last two lines are everything I hoped they would be. You're too amazing. Keep up the great work.
