The masquerade entwined within my shallow lifeless hole
Too old
Numb against the aches and pains of reality
But tarnished by the darker parts of imagination
She sings so beautifully
But the words don’t break the chains of her memories
Counting down to someplace else
Coming down she’s by herself
Caught between her twisted distortions and hope
But no help comes, she fights alone
She’s only seventeen
Haunted by the dream
The hole has grown so deep she thinks she’ll decompose
A grave of darkened eyes, slipping downward, losing hold
Grime and broken fingernails, tainted she screams
But no words escape, stuck in between
Always awake
Chipped off blocks of porcelain locks
Shards of normalcy sprinkle her sorrow
Yesterday becomes tomorrow
And she’s a child somewhere left
But age separates and forms regret
Climbing out of a desolate hole
She’s still so young but she’s grown so cold
