Spiked Words

Playing feelings like they’re dice,
Show mine promise no stability.
You can’t look at me when you speak
With your silent words.

I watch your pale face grow red
So my torrential replies,
Are spiked with ignorant graces of
Hope – such futility.

I don’t function like a computer,
Sending out zeros and ones to satisfy your thirst
For some conclusive release
You tell me, “say anything.”

I, in such a pitiful fashion, hold onto
Twisted memories of an unhealthy life,
Submitting to blurred emotions, and in such bloated ego,
Conned you into staying with padded words.

I can’t say how much of what I say is true
Because I either don’t know or choose not to.
Life seems easier to ignore it but you say
We can’t ignore it, yet I say to.

Please tell me what you think
