A lost princess in search of love
passed my way this morning
pleading for a song

Oh, sing of love to me
my limbs and heart are weary
I've journeyed lost so long

She smiled at me and touched my arm
fresh tears wet her cheeks as she said,
"I'm cheated of my loving heart
and wand'ring around with the dead."

I sang a song of love
and shared with her the treasures of my heart
and prayed she would reply

She brightly sang along
and love propelled the sun, the moon and stars
across the golden sky

She smiled again and touched my face
her eyes glowed radiantly
"I've felt true love, my heart is healed."
She said, “Now I must take my leave."

A solo minstrel sings his song
a duet playing in his mind...

Wow this was awesome. I have to give "props" to this part: "A solo minstrel sings his song; a duet playing in his mind..." that was really creative. You wrote a really great poem. Great job in making the prelims.

    Beautiful

I love the innocent quality of this poem. Makes me feel charmed..soft and dreaming..I like that.

I loved the last two verses. To me they were very fitting and powerful.

Sighhh...Ahhh, yes...pensive & a lil' sad, filled with yearning for your Lady Love...I agree with Karen; it is reminiscent of "Greensleeves"...I have always enjoyed that time period...knights, fair maidens, jousting, dragons...Thank you for entering my contest, Poet...Good luck... Wanda

Such a sad tale of unrequited love, perfect for the songs of a minstrel...shades of Greensleeves. I enjoyed the read very much, but think how often we don't see the faces of love, and sing solo the duets of heart.

Ah, yes. Sometimes it is necessary to sing a song of love even when you don't end up with the girl. But, I prefer a happy ending(s).
