my tiny wrists vs. strong fists.

wishing for color on the other side,
my toes drank of the Red Sea,

but there was no God to part it for me.

and honey, I did my part,
but

it's hard to say "no"

to someone with strong hands

and selective hearing.

Author notes

either about rape
or abortion.

I hear the 'rape' in this poem, but I would be more likely to hear that than 'abortion.' Another good one.

No matter how many times you say to yourself in a mirror "tell 'em no, tell'em no" ... it never comes out that way. It comes out more like a hiss.

Yeah, don't ask about my comments lately.

I wasn't sure if I had to use those words in the poem, or just be inspired by them....?
but I had fun writing this

      great contest.

no- you didn't have to use the words in this, only as inspiration.
