He stopped living for the truth
Started acting on lies
Around the same time
That rap music died
Stopped clawing for the vision
Inhaled the fascist reek
Started preaching on religion
Atheist can’t speak
Mind is a cycle
Freedom or oppression
No rest from the greed
More money being embezzled
It’s a dangerous system
Controlled by protocol
And Bush with his soldiers
Shedding blood over oil
[Chorus]
Insanity, the sane preach
While feasting on the minds
Of those who once were free
Of those who are now blind
Of those who were consumed
And drowned beneath defeat
In the name of the States
People die in the streets
[Verse 2]
He stopped living for the truth
Started acting on lies
Around the same time
That rap music died
Stopped clawing for the vision
Inhaled the fascist reek
Started preaching on religion
Atheist can’t speak
His trade is paradox
Preaching and denying
Support our fucking troops
Don’t let our soldiers die
Let all be consumed
Beneath the machine
Where no one
Will ever hear you scream
[Chorus x2]
[Guitar Solo – 12 Lines]
[Bridge]
Let all be consumed
Beneath the machine
Where no one
Will ever hear you scream
[Chorus]
[Outro – 4 Lines]
Author notes
Rock-rap lyrics, sort of in the musical style of Rage Against the Machine (who, on an unrelated topic, are my favourite band). Covers a few issues in today's society - the number one topic being the attitude of the George Bush administration. Obvious references to this are the title, the lines "Support our fucking troops, Don't let our soldiers die" (referring to the pro-war and anti-war attitudes that the US implements simultaneously in times of crisis), and the reference to the war-on-oil at the end of the first verse. Another, largely unrelated, topic briefly mentioned in the lyrics is the political bias towards religion (the mention of atheism referring to the fact that speaking out against religion is considered a heinous act in this modern world). Anyway, I'll shut up, so you can comment, or not.
