Snow piling up outside
After working in the cold
I sit her and drink a cup of coffee
Thinking of Lane
His life and never quit spirit
To do the undoable
To ride 8 seconds to the history books
A cowboy, a friend to the fans
I have seen the movies and visited the web
The only regret I have was never seeing him live
I have seen him on film
Read poems about the man and his rides
But never once did my own eyes
See this live
8 seconds that will be in history
8 seconds a ride of a lifetime
So to you Lane I say
Thank you for all you have done

an interesting tribute to one of the greatest bull riders of all time. I actually met him in 1988, in Calgary which is near where I live. The winter Olympics were here, and rodeo was a demonstration sport that year. My cousins were trick riding during the rodeo, and we all met later. A very personable guy. Anyways, a nice piece here. Well done.

I would have loved to meet him. Well I love to watch the old film clips of him riding. I looked up to him for many years and when I was bull riding I would always spend time to meet the crowd and talk to people just like he did. I am no longer riding made a promise, My Mom watched me get hurt (bad but not real bad) broken ribs some cuts and bruises and she asked me to stop. SO I did...... Sorry rambling here
