The Perfect Moments

Personally I would love to just sit on the beach of San Francisco and stare out into the ocean for hours on end. Collect shells and sand dollars, play with the little crabs on the beach that wash ashore, feel the foam of the ocean on my legs, maybe play in the water a little bit. Watch the people who comes to the ocean as lovers stroll quietly hand in hand maybe never saying a word to each other yet still knowing what is on each other's mind.

To watch the dogs bouncing to and fro into the ocean. Their wet sandy legs jumping and twisting in the air to catch a frisbee or a ball thrown a bit too far into the water.

The small children squealing with delight and laughter as the last peice of each wave goes over their little toes and gets them wet with a salty lick of water. The surfer's out in the water, braving each wave knowing each could be the last they ever ride. Their slicked back hair and sunkissed faces burnt with the salt of the sea upon it.

The roaring sound of a big wave as it crashes upon the shore its destructive intent tempered only by the knowledge that it will eventually eat away at the beach and consume more and more shore for itself.

The place I think of is North Beach in San Francisco. Its well known and well used, but in the early morning and late afternoon hours it quiets as most places do. You can sit on the shoreline untouched and face the setting sun as it slips slowly down the horizon until it dissapears for the night.

As the sunlight fades into obscurity the people slowly trickle back to their cars and leave knowing they've had their day fulfilled by something that seems to soothe most people. The ocean breeze has caressed their skin and they are content.

A peaceful beginning to a weekend.

What a beautifully serene picture you paint. I can smell the ocean from here. This is so soothing and calm. What a lovely write. Being from Okla. I don't get to experience the ocean often enough. This is as close as I've come in years. Thank you.
