I can feel it, every time we touch.
You have that longing expression,
Even in the cells of your skin
That look deep in your eyes –
hiding.
I know of what you want.
I know what you can’t feel to have.
I know what you think you are
safe
from…
When really you’re walking right into it.
You can doubt my understanding,
You can think you get my point.
But the truth remains –
You’ve never known,
Never taken seriously what I’ve said.
So today is the day
I bring it to your attention and
Then walk away like…
a memory.
I’ll be around,
Just not so close
To ease that longing gaze,
Your hesitancy to turn away
And to be so close.
Does it feel off?
