And my enemies
I wish you to hear me
And the Lord's amenities
I understand that you may not agree
But please listen to my plea
I am a Christian
That asks you to listen
To my Lord's words
And to steady your lips
So please sheathe your verbal swords
I beg you only to listen
And to not turn your ear
To a humble Christian
Who in his God he places
A reverent fear
I am not an extremist
For I do not rave
I am not God
So I can not Save
I am a humble servant
But I am not treated
Like a knave
I am not an oppressor
Only a messenger
I am not just a passenger
But a vessel
I am not a fanatic
For I am not erratic
I do not have a total belief
In science
For as a Christian
I put my reliance
In Faith
Not in some other god
Not in hatin'
Or Satan
Or some evil wraith
I love all people
But I disagree
With Homosexuality
Because it is an ality
An artificially defined belief
Not a person
So I do not hate you
But the sin
An abomination
A lie of the Enemy
Something that is not true
But I will not lie to you
I do sin
And I am no better than you
The difference is
I have thrown that trash
In the garbage bin
Of course you have a choice
And have probably already made it
But my beliefs I feel I must voice
And to my Lord's words
You can turn away
And stick to your realism
Agnosticism
Or atheism
There is nothing wrong with this
The Lord gave us free choice
Our divine right to block out his voice
So you can stay with this earthly 'reality'
Or whatever other -ality
You can conceive
But remember this is what I believe
As none of these
If you continue to cater to them
Will bring you to heaven
My brethren
I say this
Because I am a Christian
That asks you only to listen
No! Pleads you to listen
To me
A Christian....

Yes, I do actually. But it changes nothing for me. I just keep rolling on.

Interesting , do you get attacked often for your beliefs? it's just that you used words like " your verbal swords" and "don't attack me"
I admire those who stand for what they believe and show patience and respect for those who believe differently.
Thanks for sharing,

Decided to Check Out Your Work...
...from what I see here is a message saying you are Christian who is human. Many people often think Christianity is for those who need nothing, which is a false concept. Jesus came to save sinners, of which I, or any Christian can say, is chief.
I read a genuine heart in this particular write. One who knows and yet is in the pursuit of knowing.
Keep pursuing...
By the way, "fanatic" is defined by Webster as one who is "marked by excessive enthusiasm and often intense uncritical devotion".
I would say that is true of immature Christians and non-believers. As one grows in Christ, they come to see that Christianity is reasonable in the truest sense. I say this here because of the responses you've received.

-
"Uncritical devotion" Namely irrational devotion.
-
-
When most of the history scholars and archaeologists say that the most reliable ancient historical documents in existence are the Gospels found in the Bible, I would say true Christians are not being irrational.
God bless!

I said I don't not have a 'total' belief in science. That doesn't mean that I hold it in low regard. I actually hold it in high regard, but like everything else it can be polluted be men, a good example: religion. When I made that statement I was referring those who do this to science. I also agree with you on the genetic predisposition of homosexual tendencies, but do you know that has also been proven that it is still up to that individual person follow that tendency which is what a predisposition is. With animals as you said not being able to make a conscious decision, of course they would probably follow that tendency as they cant make a decision to do otherwise, but wait that is why they are Animals. Granted,I will cede to you the fact that we classify ourselves as animals as well, but we are sentient. As for me being a fanatic that all depends on you definition of reason, as reason is based on cause and beliefs. And as we all know those tend to differ from person to person especially in different parts of the world. I base my reason in the Lord, who I see to be ultimate reason and logic. And as I base my reason in Him, I could just as easily say that you are a fanatic for you supress the reason given to us by God. As far as I am concerned overpopulation is what we have brought on to ourselves, with premarital sex, not saying that everyone has to agree with Christianity but this idea would help. As for the book of Genesis, to which you refer, with you reference to Noah, and its correlation with the Epic of Gilgamesh, that is a debate/study that rages on to this day. And until evidence is provided that refutes the other without any question, I will believe as I do now.
I will be honest with you, I love science but this is because I see everything that we do aside from sin, to be given to us by God. Whether it be logic, medical science, mathematics, etc., I feel that it was given to us by God. And all those people who developed those sciences whether they believed in Him or not, to have been touched by God. My only problem with Science as it is now is that it always tries to cut God out, when they should be connected. I believe that there is a balance in everything, meaning you can have both, not what humanity changes for it's own purposes. -
I do not have a total belief
In science... this inherently deems you a "fanatic" as you define the word as "one whose faith surpasses or suppresses their reason." To not believe in Science, which is fundamentally rational, revocable, and tangible- or rather to believe in something that supersedes science, supersedes what has been proven, is thus a form of fanaticism.
I'm not really sure whether or not this will matter to you since you hold science and rationality in such low regard- but ninety percent of homosexuals report homosexual tendencies and fantasies before the age of puberty- thus leaving scientists to conclude it's a genetic predisposition and not an "artificial decision" as I believe you deemed it. In animal population studies homosexuality is reported in areas that become so densely populated that food becomes scarce. Animals, being incapable of making an artificial or societal- actually a CONSCIOUS decision- obviously develop a genetic predisposition when the state of their environment render it useful for the species. I urge you to regard the current human situation of overpopulation and make the obvious juxtaposition.
What makes you superstition any more valid than the thousands that have come before it- professing ideals and mythos that are sometimes identical? (Your charming Noah myth can be found in the epic of Gilgamesh a good thousand years before any notion of Judaism, let alone Christianity.) This statement, I realize, is in the end futile. I really can't penetrate a mind that refuses rationality. But still... I may try. -

Hi, Grace to you, Did you know that according to studies in 2005, by various sociology groups, statistics show that 80 percent of homosexuals where also molested at a younger age? Now, in a social perspective that would make it a learned behaviour. What I have learned is, it is a bondage, just like all sin, but many can be freed from sin through the blood of Jesus, And concidering that genesis wasn't written until Moses, who is believed to be the writer, it is passed down generations, through generations. I would say dispite the debates with the Gilgamesh dating, that if the Gilgamesh holds the story true, which was written earler than the Genesis account, then shouldn't that support both sides, of it being true, or a myth? Now as far as science, as you mentioned earlier in your comment, You are basing your belief that faith is fanatical, because you cannot rationalize it, you cannot see a logical reason for it, so therefore that would make you limited to your understanding about Christ. You said you don't have total belief in science, which is a good thing, because science, in order to be science, has to be able to be falisified, or verified, so all theorys will be in a constant state of change.
You said
"To not believe in Science, which is fundamentally rational, revocable, and tangible- or rather to believe in something that supersedes science, supersedes what has been proven, is thus a form of fanaticism."
This is the part where I was talking about understanding. For us Christians, we have a living personal relationship, and what Jesus does in our lives supersedes our knowledge. It's totaly different that what someone from the outside can imagine. Nothing has disproven it yet, except doubt and disbelief. -

right now
The sociology studies you mention are perpetrated by a group of right-wing fanatics that base that "research" off of Kinsey delivering the word of an incarcerated pedophile. Gilgamesh doesn't hold anything to anything- he's an Assyrian mythological hero- in his trials as written by an un-named Assyrian scholar there is a story of a flood. The book also contains idol worship, adultery, polytheism- and a slew of other things the Old testament deems evil. My point was that the ridiculous mythos being taken as fact- e.g. Noah and the Ark- isn't even Christian mythos to begin with. There are accounts of Icarus not only in Greek polytheism but in Babylonian polytheism- does that somehow make the claims of Icarus's existence any more valid? I think not.
I used to be a devout Catholic- don't preach to me about a relationship I don't understand- I went to mass every Sunday and did my confessions and all of the rituals and felt that "deep connection" you have with Jesus.
I can tell you what does not "supersede my knowledge." The fact that there is irrevocable proof that we evolved from apes. And not only proof- but essential parameters of human life and reason, not rationalization, but reason- dictate that our perception of existence is limited by our sensory organs. Our organ of consciousness- essentially what it means to be conscious and living- you might call it having a soul- is incapable of existing outside of our sights, smells, sounds, all weaved together in our thalamus. There is no such thing as an objective projection of the universe- as long as one is sensing that universe through auxiliary means of organs.
To say that there is some divine power- that thinks, acts, and is capable of involving itself in our welfare JUST LIKE US, JUST THE WAY WE DO- in fact that anything "godly" would be able to process what it is to be a cellular organism- is frankly the most arrogant, short-minded, and anthropocentric thing I've ever heard of. A creature of greater magnitude then we can comprehend that involves itself in our material existence- perceives existence the way we do- is ridiculous.
I'm not denying your right to your belief. I understand that all of my explanations will have no effect to you. If your Christ gives you comfort, and happiness, and peace of mind- then obviously regardless of his existence- you're perfectly entitled to believe whatever it is you wish.
What DOES upset me is saying that homosexuality is a "social disorder"- trying to impose your religious convictions- that have not a shred of scientific evidence- onto the structure of the actual world and especially (though I'm not accusing you of doing this) on our government.

You've commented on a lot of my poetry, so i decided, hey, i'm gonna comment back. I really liked this piece, it was thought provoking, and it made me appreciate the fact that i'm also a christian. I love Jesus, i love what is He, and what He does. I really liked this piece, and thank you for submitting it. You're quite a talented young man,

I agree.
I thought about that just as I clicked the submit button I'm still thinking about how to change it now. -
This was an amazzing poem, it's good to see someone writing about society with a christian views. One thing for constructive critism, When you pointed out homosexuality, I think it would be better if you point out other sins aswell, like adultry, ect. Just to give it a wider rage of social hazards. God bless you for writing this, and stay strong in the power of his might.
